The Norwela Council was incorporated on December 2, 1925. Our geographic area covers the nine northwest parishes of Louisiana. These parishes are: Bienville, Bossier, Caddo, Claiborne, DeSoto, Natchitoches, Red River, Sabine, and Webster.

It is the mission of the Norwela Council to develop character, leadership, and positive values for the benefit of the youth, families, and communities that we serve. We will accomplish our mission through the dedicated help of the Norwela Council's volunteer and professional staff and community support.

In February 2010, the Boy Scouts of America will celebrate 100 years as an organization. Founded as an outlet to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a participating citizen and leader, BSA has more than fulfilled its mission. Today, as we celebrate our first 100 years, we not only reflect on our rich history, but lay the foundation for a strong future, as well.
